This policy is written in plain English to help you understand how we handle your information. It applies to all data collected through jobara.ng, our job portal, and any communications with Jobara Technologies Ltd.
1. Who we are
Jobara Technologies Ltd. ("Jobara", "we", "us") is a Nigerian technology company connecting clients with verified service professionals. We are registered in Nigeria and operate under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 issued by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

2. What information we collect
Depending on how you use Jobara, we may collect:
- Waitlist sign-ups: Full name, email address, phone number, city, service type or specialty, and how you heard about us.
- Job applications: Full name, email address, LinkedIn profile (optional), cover letter, and CV (PDF). Your CV may contain additional personal information you choose to include.
- Profile photos: If you choose to upload a passport photo during sign-up or via the admin portal, we store this as part of your profile.
- Communications: Any messages or notes exchanged with our team.
3. Why we collect it (legal basis)
- Waitlist data: Collected with your explicit consent to notify you about Jobara's launch and updates. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Job applications: Collected to assess your suitability for employment — this is a pre-contractual necessity.
- Communications: Collected on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiries.
4. How we use your information
- To notify waitlist members when Jobara launches in their city
- To review and respond to job applications
- To manage our internal CRM and hiring pipeline
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects.
5. How long we keep your data
- Waitlist data: Retained until you request deletion, or for a maximum of 2 years from sign-up if Jobara has not launched in your city.
- Job applications: Retained for 6 months after the position is filled or the application is closed. After this period, applications are permanently deleted unless you are hired.
- Employee records: Retained for the duration of employment plus 7 years, in line with Nigerian labour law requirements.
6. Who we share your data with
We use a small number of trusted technology providers to operate our service:
- Google Firebase — authentication and database (Google LLC, USA). Covered by Google's Data Processing Agreement and Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Zoho WorkDrive — file storage for documents and uploads (Zoho Corporation, USA/EU). Covered by Zoho's Data Processing Agreement.
- Netlify — website hosting (Netlify Inc., USA). Covered by Netlify's Data Processing Agreement.
All providers are contractually bound to process your data only on our instructions and to maintain appropriate security standards. Data may be transferred outside Nigeria to the above providers; we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for all such transfers.
7. Your rights under NDPR
As a data subject under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Erasure: Request that we delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent: At any time, where processing is based on your consent
- Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interest
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@jobara.ng. We will respond within 30 days. If you have concerns about how we handle your data that we haven't been able to resolve, you can contact NITDA at nitda.gov.ng.
8. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encrypted storage, access controls, and secure data transmission (HTTPS).
In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you and NITDA as required by law.
9. Cookies
Our website does not currently use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. We may use essential session cookies solely to operate core website functionality. We will update this policy before introducing any analytics or marketing cookies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. For significant changes, we will notify waitlist members by email.
